Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide intimate, hands-on care and support to patients who are unable to care for themselves without assistance. They work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, acting as the eyes and ears of the RN in the client’s home. They also relay pertinent health information to the medical team.
Assistance may include:
- Help with bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living
- Turning or repositioning bedridden patients
- Measuring patients’ temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs
- Assisting Registered Nurses in medication management
- Answering patient calls
- Documenting health issues and reporting it to nurses
- Assistance in feeding, measuring and recording the patient’s food and liquid intake
- Lighthouse cleaning for safety and comfort
- Helping with medical procedures
- Dressing wounds
